Barcelona vs. Real Madrid – May 6th 2018 – Betting Tip

With their away win against Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona have sealed the title of Spanish La Liga and become the champions for the seventh time in the last ten years. What’s even more, their impressive run without a single loss continues and they are now just four games away from ending the season without a single loss. The biggest test to that challenge lies just ahead as they host their greatest rivals, Real Madrid, at Camp Nou this Sunday.

The game has no real significance for either side in terms of titles or qualifications, as both teams are qualified for next season in the UCL and the matter of the champions is now decided. While Los Blancos would prefer to end the season ahead of Atletico Madrid, they will surely be far more focused on their midweek encounter with Bayern Munich, where Champions League finals is on the line. Check out our Barcelona v Real Madrid betting tips and find out which sports betting strategies we recommend for this match.

Barcelona

Ernesto Valverde’s first full season at the helm of Blaugrana was going perfect until the crash in Rome where Barcelona was eliminated in an almost incredible way after winning 4:1 in the home leg. While Barca has certainly bounced back, having won Copa Del Rey beating Sevilla 5:0 in the finals and secured the La Liga title with a Lionel Messi hat trick, the disappointment of dropping out of UCL is bound to still be there.

In the league, Barcelona is without a defeat, as they won 26 and drew 8 of their games to win a total of 86 points, 11 more than Atletico Madrid in second. Lionel Messi helped the team do it by scoring 32 goals so far and he will surely be looking to score a few more before the season is over in hopes of winning the European Golden Boot and other individual prizes, even though the World Cup is behind the corner and he will also be looking to rest up ahead of it.

Real Madrid

When it comes to La Liga, Zidane’s boys have disappointed, falling 15 points behind Barcelona with four games to go and having been written off as serious title contenders a few months ago. This was certainly not a product of poor offence, but rather a bad defensive lineup as they conceded almost as many goals and Barcelona and Atletico Madrid combined.

Real really suffered early in the season, including their 0:3 home loss to Barcelona which really set the tone for the rest of the season. However, Zidane managed to get the squad to bounce back from it all and come to the brink of yet another Champions League final and make sure that they don’t fall short of the top four in La Liga either.

Real will be saving the season on the European front, as that is the only title they can still win, but the game against Barcelona is always an important one and we don’t expect Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates to just give in and let Barca get the double win for the season that easy.

Statistics & Game History

When last they met, Real Madrid was completely unable to stop Barca at home and Catalans came away with an important 0:3 victory. Real won the two Super Cup games before that, but these naturally didn’t hold as much importance as a league game.

Historically, it is very difficult to say who has an edge in the duel, as both sides have had their fair share of both away and home wins and losses but the one sure thing is that El Classico rarely ends in a draw and goal fests are quite common, which gives us hope for some great football this Sunday as well.

Conclusion

Barcelona are priced at 1.75 to win with some of the best betting sites in Nigeria and given the current situation and the fact that Real Madrid will be playing their midweek game against Bayern ahead of this clash, we definitely see plenty of value in that bet.

Over 3.5 goals bet at 2.10 may seem a tad optimistic, but with the game not really being important in terms of points, we are likely to see very offensive football from two sides who definitely know how to score, which is why this is another one of the betting tips we have to recommend you give a shot.
